This is a wee thank you gift to everyone who stops in occasionally to read my blather. It's especially for those who still type their blog entries into the post window of their browser.** It's called ieSpell and it's a plugin for Internest Explorer which will spellcheck your entry for you. It also works well for webmail like Hotmail & Yahoo.
It's configurable specifically for Canadian English (yay!) as well as US and UK English. You can also add words to a custom dictionary (useful for blogger terms) which can be shared with Microsoft Word. You can even tell it to ignore html codes.
Slick as snot, as my buddy Neil would say.
It works in IE and IE-based browsers like MyIE, but alas, not in Mozilla-based browsers. Personal use is free, but if you find it really useful, why not throw a couple of bucks in their PayPal tip jar?
** Ya really should consider writing your posts in your wordprocessor first, then copy & paste into the blog post window. We've all experienced the indescribable agony of watching that 'could not connect' error dialogue come up as the web irrevocably eats our best work. And of course this is more likely to happen the longer the post is, as it gives the servers longer to lose track of you. Plus you'll have a backup copy of your writing.
UPDATE!: Mike was disappointed, as was I, that ieSpell didn't work with Mozilla/Firebird browsers. I did some searching and it turns out there is spellcheck extension being worked on! There's a version out there but the installation seems to be a farkin' mess. People are all over the map with installation sources and instructions. I tried to decipher as best I could, but the end result is my browser crashes every time I try the spellchecker. So I don't recommend it for the faint of heart. I'll keep working on it to see if I can figure it out, and will post about it if I do. If anybody else out there has had any luck with it, I'd appreciate hearing about it. The link to the thread that discusses it is here.
My spilling and gramma is just fine. I don't kneed a spill chucker.

Paul, it's just damned good to have ya back in town, bro.
I'll check into the software, but hell, I usually just post 'em, mistakes and all. LOL
That said, I still gotta get the instructions on how to post photos in a main-page post. And if you're still interested in getting some bloggers up and running, I've got a helluva candidate for you, sir.
Again, welcome back.

I can just picture me givin' that program a nervous breakdown with the 'Southern-fried' way I spell shit.
Besides, what would I do with my two regular dictionaries that sit faithfully at my elbow, day in and day out?

I love ieSpell. I used to just keep dictionary.com open in another window, but that was a bit of a hassle.
Bizarrely, I can only seem to write posts straight into my blog window thingy - as soon as I open up Notepad, my mind goes blank.
