One of the things I find hardest about living so far away from the rest of my family is missing out on holiday festivities with the kids. (I've got 8 neices & nephews under the age of 15) You can guess my juvenile reaction when my neighbour called to explain her Easter Dilemma. She'd picked picked up a bunch of goodies & a bunny to hide for each of her 3 boys. But she couldn't get out of their sight long enough to hide them.
Sooo... into the breach steps... Bunny Man! I had an absolute hoot scurrying around the yard stashing Easter eggs, marshmallow rabbits and gummi bunnies. I was also tasked with hiding a big chocolate bunny for each, including Mom. Those I made 'em work a little harder for.
The most challenging part was remembering where I put everything so I could be sure it had all been claimed. We live in the mountains and sit right against the benchlands of the local range. The bears are just out of hibernation, and the last thing I want is one of the kids (never mind me!) having to share their swingset with a bruin. And yes, it does happen. Frequently. That's why we're not even allowed to put out bird feeders. We've even had cougars wander through the neighbourhood. Elk & mule deer are a common in the back yard, as are coyotes.
As much fun as the hiding process was, the highlight for me was the look on the youngest's face (he's 5) each time he discovered a new stash. Glee is the only word that describes that look. Geez, I sure wish I could still be that easily entertained! Oh wait. I guess I am.
I was even invited over later to share Easter ham dinner with the clan. I'd been given a delicious California white wine by another friend I'd pet-sat for over the school holiday, so we adults had a nice treat with dinner too.
I love having great neighbours.
Sorry, Vicki... edited to seem a little less bloodthirsty.
Teresa: I'm cheap and I'm easy. What size would you like the photo? And just what are you into?

But you did it sans costume? I would have paid money to see a photo of you in a bunny costume. Not that I'm 'into' bunnies or anything!

I was so taken up by your description, that by the time the end came around, I thought thaat a California white was the name of another animal--a type of bunny perhaps. I was just sure you were going to say you ate this white bunny for Easter.
